Teachers and Students Growing Together: In our quest to continuously improve as educators, Durham Elementary will use our CEF funding to purchase each classroom teacher a copy of Strategies That Work: Teaching Comprehension to Enhance Understanding for our next campus book study. We plan to improve our expertise in explicitly instructing readers to interact more completely with their reading. In addition, we will enhance our campus literacy library’s nonfiction Social Studies collection. These books will be used by all students in kindergarten through fourth grade. Students will gain proficiency in using nonfiction text features such as a table of contents, headings, graphs, captions, glossaries, and indexes.
