Carroll Education Foundation's Grant Recipients and Sponsors 2008

Sponsor: Grayson Allen Jewelers
Grant: NXT Robotics - The Next Generation
School: Eubanks Intermediate

The curriculum engages students in designing, building and programming a LEGO robot, challenging them to work cooperatively and think creatively. The students form teams or “companies” that work together to create a LEGO robot prototype. In the introductory based Robotics curriculum, students will progress through activities designed to teach programming, behaviors, systems, control, sensors, feedback, and more. Along the way, they will address key technology and science concepts. The advanced series incorporates three projects which can then be followed up with open-ended engineering research and design activities. The program culminates in a final presentation where student teams present their products.
