Carroll Education Foundation's Grant Recipients and Sponsors 2010

One of the major goals of the Carroll Academic Reading Program (C.A.R.E.) is to create life long readers. Dawson Middle School students are aware of our program and often participating students carry the label of being “non-readers.” Through the example of non-readers becoming readers, C.A.R.E. students are able to spark a reading chain reaction. How powerful for one student to witness another reading for enjoyment during our campus weekly event Drop Everything and Read and to believe if he/she can, maybe they can too! A perfect application of the district motto: “The Power of One.” As a Dawson Middle School learning community, we believe students benefit from a curriculum that is relevant and appropriately connected to their learning. C.A.R.E. provides this connection for the academic growth of our students as aided through the availability of current and Lexile leveled reading materials provided through the generosity of the Carroll Education Foundation.
