The Texana Living History Association, a non-profit organization, will bring the real pioneer period of Texas to life for our 4th grade students. This full day program will provide a blend of education, history and performing arts by portraying legendary Texans in an interesting and engaging way. This group will bring volunteers who each act out in detail information about the character they are portraying. They come dressed in authentic clothing and deliver their information in first person. Our students will experience a real-live chuck wagon, learn from a fur trapper and also get to meet Molly Goodnight and learn why her family was important to Texas. By the end of the day, our students will be able to differentiate between the myth and reality of life in the 1800’s.
